At ITMA Asia 2005 the company will highlight its know-how for fiber production plants - staple fibers and filaments made from polyester and polyamide and especially Lyocell fibers. Lyocell fibers are based on cellulose and produced by an environmentally friendly technology developed and patented by Zimmer.
This Lyocell process takes care of environment and resources by avoiding the conventional application of carbon disulphide (CS2). Produced by Zimmer's process the fibers have superiorities like a renewable, natural polymer as feedstock and biodegradability of all products. Blended with synthetic fibers and cotton they are suited for high performance products for textile applications and as filling material. In a further development Lyocell fibers are used as a substrate for other natural substances such as seaweed with its richness in trace elements.
